Prayers and Pups

While traveling in St. Johnsbury, VT. you can pause and pray at a quaint, white steepled chapel. Don’t worry about leaving your best friend at home. The sign on the sancturary door says, “Welcome, all creeds, all breeds, no dogmas allowed.”

Internationally renowned artist, Huneck, specially designed the chapel. This Minster abounds with animal themed carvings, stained glass windows portraying dogs frolicking and being cherished by their owners. One window even depicts a dog with a halo.

Huneck revamped the chapel for pet owners. He felt that dogs often “act as guides for their humans; allowing them to reconnect with nature.” The artist is not alone in this conviction. An ‘ABC’ Television News poll demonstrated that 43% of Americans believe pets go to heaven. If nothing else, they can bring us a little closer to paradise here on earth.

Prayers can be good for the soul, but if your pet needs more secular assistance, see your veterinarian because it is “Your Pet…Health Matters.”
