Pampered Pets

Pampering can take many forms. Maybe your pooch attends doggy day care or has a Gucci collar with a matching leash. Spoiling your pet doesn't have to blow your monthly budget. There are many inexpensive ways in which you can show you care.

Giving treats is often our way of demonstrating our love but it can also pack on the pounds. Try giving a tasty chewable multi vitamin once daily instead.

A day at the spa is an indulgence we all love. Spend some quality bonding time with your pet by brushing its fur, trimming its nails, check its ears for debris and gently clean them with baby oil soaked cotton balls. Suds up your pooch or try dry powder shampoos for your cat. Finish the day with a gentle massage…aaah!

When the weather gets chilly, pop a towel in to the dryer for a few minutes. Then wrap your frigid feline in the towel and cuddle up. You can also place a towel covered heating pad, set on low in your pets' bed. Your pet will luxuriate in their new cozy place of repose.

Exercise is good for the mind and the body. Take your dog for a stroll around the block. Cats love to chase flash light beams in a darkened room. Try a touch of catnip in an old sock with a knot tied in the end. Much less expensive than a store bought mouse toy, and it's guaranteed to bring out the kitten in your cat.

If you are a smoker, do your pet the ultimate favor and smoke only outdoors and away from your pet. Second hand smoke can be as dangerous to their health as it is to ours.

One of the best ways to pamper your pet, though they might not agree, is to schedule a visit with your local veterinarian for a thorough examination. As a team, the two of you can insure a good quality of life and this is important because it is "Your Pet…Health Matters."
