...What we can easily see is only a small percentage of what is possible

Outdoor Gear for Dogs.

No, I am not talking about going to Abercroby and Fitch or L.L. Bean for snazzy camping attire but outerwear for pets is becoming big business. Dogs are our number one exercise partners. They need protection from the elements just as we do.

Hiking shoes with extra arch support and fancy construction features help us traverse harsh terrain, but how about the city pooch that goes trekking? Footwear is now available not just for protecting paws from rough ground but also from snow. Don't feel like hauling all of your pet's food and supplies for your camping experience on your back? Make your dog carry his own stuff. There are backpacks for canine campers and collapsible bowls, rain ponchos for inclement weather, sleeping bags and first aid kits.

Are you more in to water sports? Though dogs can swim, they can become tired and drown. Life jackets are made in a variety of sizes. Some dogs even do scuba diving and surfing. There is gear for all these sports and then some.

Maybe your dog is just a city pup at heart and doesn't relish a romp in the wilds. A walk on city streets can also be dangerous. The only chance you may have to exercise your dog is at night after work. A dog can be very difficult to see under these conditions. There is special reflective clothing that your dog can don before going out for his evening constitutional. Special blinking collars can also warn motorist that your dog is afoot.

Check with your local pet store for these products. Depending on where you live in the United States, you may need to search the internet for some of the more specialized item, but it is important to safeguard your pet whether it is in the city, suburb or great outdoors, because it is "Your Pet…Health Matters."
