Tabby Tummy Troubles….When to be Concerned.

Cats are the most popular pets in the United States, except when they deposit hairballs on the carpet. The problem stems from the fact that cat love to keep them clean. This practice causes them to ingest large quantities of fur. It usually ends up in the cat box but for those cats that need some assistance, there are new diets and treats that contain added fiber. The fiber catches the bits of hair and helps to prevent carpet catastrophes.

A change in diet or treats can cause intestinal upset. So can exposure to toxins, medications, various metabolic diseases plus heartworm infestation.

When to be concerned about vomiting? If your cat is having repeated bouts, especially on a daily basis, is losing weight or condition, if you find blood in the vomitus or your pet has a dramatic decrease in appetite…. see your veterinarian immediately.
