Stop Petting Your Pet
Try a Nice Massage Instead.
Massage is a fantastic way to relieve stress, either for yourself
or that furry member of the family. It can also help to increase
circulation, and boost the immune system. Stiff muscles and joints
will appreciate the increased range of motion that will result from
the soothing rub.
Learning how to give a good pet massage is not difficult. You
already know the basics - gentle stroking. Avoid massaging too quickly,
too deeply or with too much force. Massage with the strokes directed
toward the heart. Don't force your pet. Start slowly and speak softly.
Watch your pet's reactions. If it likes a particular movement, do
it again. You don't need lotions, just a pair of clean hands.
Several books have been written on the subject. You can find these
at some of the larger pet stores, bookstores, or even on-line.
Give a little rub
. give a little love because it is "Your
Pet
Health Matters."
