Fleas and Ticks are Not Just a Nuisance; They can be a Danger
to Your Health and That of Your Pet.
One of the biggest health threats to pets, especially young or
infirmed, is called 'flea anemia.' It occurs when an animal has
lost too much blood from flea bites. It can be life threatening.
Tapeworms are an internal parasite that can be contracted from the
ingestion of infected fleas. Though rare, a cat or dog may develop
the disease "Plague" from exposure to rodent fleas.
Ticks can carry Lyme disease. The signs can be vague and mild,
to debilitating. This disease can be a serious threat to people
and pets. Ticks can also cause a condition known as "Tick Paralysis."
It is reversible but can be very disconcerting to the owner and
uncomfortable to the pet.
Flea and tick control is now easier and safer than ever. How to
control these pests? See your veterinarian because it is "Your
Pet
Health Matters."
