Routine Deworming is Not Just for Puppies and Kittens.
The Center for Disease Control, recently announced new recommendations
to help prevent the potential spread of internal parasites from
our pets to our families. These diseases can cause vision impairment,
skin rashes, abdominal pain and possible birth defects to the unborn
babies of exposed pregnant women.
The CDC, in conjunction with the American Association of Veterinary
Parasitologist, suggests routine and repeated deworming of all puppies
and kittens. This is true even if the bowel movements look normal
and no worms are seen.
A pet used for breeding, should be dewormed before and after the
pregnancy.
Adult pets should be given anti-parasite medications at least 4
times a year.
Concerned? Don't give your pet away, don't stop loving it...merely
see your veterinarian for strategic deworming. And, wash your hands
after playing with your furry member of the family, because it is
"Your Pet...Health Matters."
