Could Bad Manners Kill Your Pet?
The number one reason why pets are abandoned to shelters is behavioral
problems. This could be excessive barking, inappropriate elimination,
or biting and scratching the family. Some of these behaviors may
have started off innocently enough as puppies and kittens but are
no longer acceptable as adult pets.
How to prevent the needless destruction of these otherwise healthy
pets? Remember when you acquire a pet, it is for life, their life.
Don't get a pet just because it looked cute in a movie or because
the kids have always wanted one. Remember, you are probably the
one who is going to have to take care of it.
Early training for all dogs is extremely important. Training does
not have to be expensive. Check with your local Parks and Recreation
centers for low cost classes. When problems do arise, promptly talk
them over with your veterinarian. Your pet may not out grow them.
