Urine Test to Detect Bladder Cancer
Your old dog is having accidents in the house...is it senility,
a bladder infection or possibly cancer? Now a urine test can let
you know.
Transitional cell carcinoma is the most commonly diagnosed cancer
in the lower urinary tract system of dogs. The signs can be very
vague which makes early detection difficult. Your dog may be having
unexplained accidents in the house, difficulty urinating or passing
blood in the urine.
In the past, the prognosis for a pet with this type of cancer
was very poor because it was typically widespread when discovered.
A urine test has recently become available to screen for this deadly
disease. The technology of "tumor associated antigens"
has been used in human medicine for years. Women can be screened
for breast cancer and men can be safeguarded against prostate
cancer
by a simple "PSA" test.
…Cancer becomes more prevalent in our elderly pets.
As with people, cancer becomes more prevalent in our elderly pets.
Veterinary oncologist are able to cure many forms of cancer. And
with chemotherapy, surgery and other treatment methods, extend the
good quality of life for our pets with non-curable malignancies.
No one wants their pet to be diagnosed with a potentially fatal
disease. Now a simple test is available for one form of cancer because
it is "Your Pet...Health Matters".
