Home Pregnancy Tests for Dogs?
Is your pet just getting fat, or could she be
pregnant. Now there is an easy and inexpensive way to find out.
Determining whether your dog was pregnant was
often very difficult in the early stages of pregnancy. Increasing
weight or the enlargement of mammary tissue was not consistently
accurate. Waiting until fetal structures could be palpated by a
veterinarian or visualized on x-rays or on an ultrasound was not
always economically feasible.
A San Diego based pharmaceutical company has recently released
a "while you wait", 15 minute test that can detect pregnancy
as early as 21-35 days. A typical canine pregnancy last only 62-65
days. This early, cost effective blood test will provide answers
concerning unwanted or false pregnancies in the privacy of your
veterinarians' office. The best way to avoid unwanted births and
the hardship of pet overpopulation is to have your pet spayed or
neutered as early as 8-12 weeks of age.
