Canine Caries:
Doggie dentists? Braces for your Poodle? Yes,
these are services that are now available for dogs and cats.
According to the American College of Veterinary
Dentists, pets periodically need their teeth cleaned just as we
do. All you may notice is bad breath. This is only one of the many
maladies that can affect a pet with poor dental hygiene.
An infected tooth can be a source of infection for the heart, liver,
kidneys and joints. You may not notice these problems immediately,
but left untended, a bad mouth can cause irreversible body wide
damage. Diet, genetics and luck all play a part in how often a pet
needs to have their teeth professionally cleaned.
You can help by brushing your pets teeth at home on a regular basis.
For instructions on how best to do this, contact your veterinarian
and have routine dental check ups.
